MODEL INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTE, CALICUT

    The institute has been  set up by the Government of India to conduct  Restructured pattern of Craftsmen Training Programme   on modular basis in the  areas of Electrical and Electronics  group of trades . The trainees undergo common course known as Basic Training in their first year in Electrical, Electronics and Allied trades as well as in Engineering Drawing, Workshop Science and Calculation .  The  Broad Based Basic Training (B.B.B.T.) for one year in different skill areas of the trade group is imparted so that a broad foundation is laid at the end of first year of training. At the end of first year basic training there would be All India Trade Test conducted by National Council for Vocational Training and a  "National Trade certificate in Basic Training "  of  the respective group of trades is awarded to successful trainees. Those who complete the basic training successfully may opt for any one of the following  alternatives :-

a) Work as an operator in an industry;

b) Entrepreneurship training in order to be self employed.

c)Join the industry as a trade apprentice under the Apprentices Act, 1961.

d) Undergo further training in one or two of the following  modules offered in institutes during the second year of training ;

Name of the  modules for specialisation in the 2nd year :

i) Industrial Electrician

ii) Industrial Electronics Control

iii) Audio Video Electronics

iv) Process Control Instrumentation

v) Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Systems

vi) Auto Electrical and Electronics Systems

An  all India trade test is conducted in the special module and a certificate of proficiency is awarded to the successful trainees of the the institute which is recognised qualification  by Govt. of India for the purpose  of requirement to the subordinate service and post for which National Trade Certificate awarded  by NCVT is recognised qualification.

Entry Qualification ; Passed Matriculation or equivalent examination with Science (Physics & Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects)

Age : 14 to 25 years( Relaxable as per Govt. of India Rule )

Session : September to August 

Mode of selection : Application are invited for admission after releasing an  advertisement notice in the Employment News Paper . Application in the prescribed proforma may be sent to the principal  along with  prescribed application & registration fee . Selection is done purely on the basis of the marks obtain in matriculation or equivalent examination .

Tuition Fee : Rs.20/- per month  In addition, the trainee has to deposit caution money of Rs.50/- which is refundable at successful completion of training, and library caution money of Rs.25/-. No tuition fee shall be charged from the SC/ST and physically handicapped trainees.

Registration fee - Rs. 10/-

Application form fee - Rs5/- per form

Reservation- Seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates as per Govt. rules . Some seats are reserved for physically handicapped candidates who have aptitude and are otherwise fit to undergo such training.
